... Home Sweet Home Luxembourg 🇱🇺
Day 10 of the AI Motorbike Roadtrip, the city where it all started.
After a loooong ride from Munich, the landscape stayed quite flat… until Luxembourg. Then the hills appeared, and the final ride into the city was short but beautiful.
But let’s jump to the real reason this stop was special: Luxembourg is where Capto started, after my years at PwC Luxembourg. A place that truly shaped me.
The day started with Boris Lemiegre. I met Boris through Chat GPT Tax and realized both our businessess were listed in taxtech500... he is ahead 😉
Funny enough, we barely talked tax. We spoke about AI, implementation, Europe, East vs West, talent, ethics and ambition.
Then coffee with one of my ex-bosses, Nicolas Devillers. We share a passion for the road, just not with the same number of wheels 🛣️
We talked Tax, VAT, Tech, what changed over the past years and what may come next.
Buckle up, this was not even half.
Lunch with Thomas Acosta, ACCA,DEC,OEC... man, that’s a lot of acronyms.
We caught up and talked about business in Luxembourg, growing in Bulgaria, finance, and everything in between. I really enjoyed his perspective across different finance roles.
Then finally, Florine Gaudry, proof that PwC life never really leaves you.
After a long time, a proper catch-up, mostly personal, but also about Tax, Tech and how Capto is growing.
Should I continue? Only fair.
Baptiste Roche. Him and Cyril have been a real inspiration for me. They also came from PwC, built a successful business, and keep growing in Luxembourg.
This time, Cyril was not there, but with Clément DAVID, we had a clear and insightful brainstorming session around tech and what can be built.
Finally, all good things come to an end. I had a drink with Francesco Piantoni, and one point came back again: AI yes, but not only AI.
Older technologies that already work well, like OCR and RPA, should not be forgotten. They are often even more powerful when combined with AI Agents. Add compliance and regulation in Luxembourg to the discussion, and you get a beautiful combo.
Long day. But honestly, it was the perfect way to close a 10-day roadtrip from Bulgaria to France, all the way to Rethel, my hometown.
I did the final ride yesterday and I am now writing this from a terrace where I grew up.
It was a beautiful trip. But what I enjoyed most was not the landscape.
It was the meetings... That is why I would do it again.
And Luxembourg meetings felt special.
I will be back.
For those who followed along, thank you. We will slowly come back to business and use cases, but before that, two more posts about the trip are coming… and also a little game:
One of the pictures below is AI-generated because I forgot to take a selfie.
Which one? 🙂
Have a great rest of the week,
Alexis
