Whether it’s most recently Anthropic’s future intentions to watermark text, Substack’s partnership with Pangram to detect the % which is AI-assisted, or the now infamous “seems like AI slop“ from LinkedIn.

There’s fresh debate about the use of AI and for once we’re pretty much not affected.

We build AI agents every day, for Finance and other departments who are burdened with manual workloads and repetitive processes that don’t need to be completed by a human. So many are surprised to hear our opinion when AI should NOT be used. To be clear, these cases exist for those departments too... but that’s worth covering in another future newsletter.

For this week’s edition we’re reiterating of prioritizing human-only content. We feel our meetups, insights, and daily posts all deserve a personal touch to match the relationships we seek to build. Since this is the case we’d actually love to see that all AI content gets tagged somehow, not necessarily to weed out those who are passing it off as their own, but also so we can give praise to those well-constructed pieces.

For us - maybe our structure is a bit imperfect, our spelling and word usage off, or unclear - but hopefully that tells you what a watermark or rating doesn’t have to!

We’re still up for a debate any time.
Let’s talk about the responsible use of AI.

Capto

Company updates worth highlighting.

  • Our referral payments actually make a difference. Learn more about our fair and modern approach to collaborating with partners, friends, and allies.

  • We might have a new content series. “PSAs for Finance leaders using Claude”.

  • Speaking of Claude, it admits our approach makes sense! We did a bit of prompting and were not so surprised with the outcome.

  • Hitting the road again. We’re keeping things more local but still very active for the rest of August and into September.

  • What should we call it? Our Bansko meetup was such a big success that we are already planning for next year. We just need your help picking the official name.

Spokes

A section dedicated to highlighting the work of our official allies.

  • Have we collaborated before? Would you like to? Looking for a boost in visibility? We are continuing to build out this program and open to discuss adding members to our directory.

You

Doing our part in a community-based approach where our feeds, inboxes, and meetings are the source for learning and happiness.

  • Do you follow VATfaqs.com? If you work in tax you should. That’s it, that’s the whole update. Ha, but it’s worth it! Trust us!
