Our CFO tried something interesting yesterday.
He wanted to generate one of our monthly financial reports.
So he fed the report directly into an AI model to see what would happen.
The result? $150 in processing costs for a single report.
Also... the output had of course some inaccuracies.
It's normal, like a new joiner, it had no context about our business logic, our KPIs, or our reporting standards.
We spent as much time fixing the inacuracies manually.
And it didn't learn from it...
Here's the scary part ➡️
Most FP&A teams manage more than 100 reports every month. If they tried this same approach, that's $15,000+ in processing costs alone.
And you'd still get subpar results that need manual fixes.
Raw AI without optimization doesn't work for finance. It's expensive and unreliable.
So, sorry for the self-promotion but I founded Capto for:
1️⃣ Optimizing Agents from the start to reduce costs dramatically
2️⃣ Embeding specific business context into the automation
3️⃣ Analyzing the actual processes before building anything
4️⃣ Ensuring accuracy, not just speed
This CFO's experiment cost $150 to learn an important lesson. You don't need to repeat it.
What matters to you isn't just automation. It's accuracy you can trust and costs that make sense.
If you're curious about AI for finance, let's talk about doing it right from day one.
Have a great Wednesday,
Alexis
