A little reminder from the pre-ChatGPT era 👀

RPA = Robotic Process Automation.

In simple terms, robots that perform repetitive, rule-based tasks the way a human would on a computer.

Think about Finance:
➡️ Downloading bank statements.
➡️ Copying data between an ERP and Excel.
➡️ Uploading invoices.
➡️ Matching transactions.
➡️ Generating recurring reports.

No magic 🪄
Just software doing the boring stuff, consistently.

But here’s the kick. RPA is also a big advantage when building AI Agents.

Why?

Because an Agent doesn't magically know how to interact with every ERP, accounting tool, or legacy application. It still needs a way to access data, trigger actions, and execute tasks reliably. That's where automation comes in.
RPA can handle the predictable steps. APIs and database connections can often do it even better. AI can interpret documents, handle ambiguity, and decide what to do next.
Put them together, and you get an Agent that can actually do the work.

At Capto, we don't believe everything needs AI.
Automate what is predictable. Use AI where it adds value. Connect everything into a workflow that gets the job done.
Because the goal was never to make Finance more artificial.
It's to make Finance less manual. 😉

Have a great studious evening,
Alexis
